Purpose
Following the cabinet decision on Monday, 5th
September 2023 - To approve the acceptance, allocation, and
reallocation of capital grant from the Department of Education
(DFE) for specific Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
projects. The grant will deliver additional school capacity in
order for the council to continue to meet its statutory obligation
and help ensure sufficient mainstream and (SEND) school places are
available in the city.
This decision will secure the Strategic Partnerships (Arcadis)
professional services required to provide additional professional
services between RIBA stages 2-7. This work is high priority and is
to provide pupil places in the North and East across 6 identified
schools by forming 7 no. F.E classrooms to meet this demand
for;
- school places across six selected secondary schools and increase
the places 7 no. F.E. as set out in the feasibility report.
- All 7 no. form entry’s and associated specialist provisions
are agreed to be completed on specified dates.

Approval to commission the Strategic Partner
(Arcadis) to spend an additional £207,502.16 for the
provision of additional professional services up to RIBA 7.
