Supply of Network Equipment, Licenses and Professional Services
July 10, 2023 Director: Policy, Strategy and Digital (Other) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
The authority has not invested in its network
infrastructure for about 15 years. This has led to the
infrastructure being largely outdated and end-of-life.
Approximately 80% of the Network kit is outdated, and is prone to
failures, lacking the level of resilience the organisation
needs.
Content
To award a contract to Fournet on a 5+2 term
which is necessary to replace the authorities network
infrastructure as part of the Network Replacement project within
the Digital Transformation Programme and to sustain the support of
the new infrastructure for the term of the contract. The contract
is being awarded following a Further Competition Procedure under
RM3038 - Network Services Lot 2 from Crown Commercial
Service.
Alternative options considered
Do Nothing – Not a sustainable option as
would put critical services and citizen data at risk.
Traditional Network – Not a suitable option as it would lack
the necessary security controls required to combat cyber security
threats that puts critical services and citizen data at risk.
