Refurbishment of Gilton House

Full council record
Purpose

Whilst progressing with a refurbishment
(window, roof and cladding improvements not including EPS removal),
two fires in other EPS clad blocks together with the receipt of
PAS9980 assessments on EPS clad buildings lead to a review of long
term maintenance of these cladding systems, and it was considered
necessary to remove the EPS cladding where provision existed to do
so. For Gilton the EPS is now almost removed. A contractor is
mobilised on site, and has provision and capacity to install new
A1/A2 fire rated cladding by way of a contract variation.

Content

Variation to the contract to install new A1/A2
cladding system with a brick slip finish ensuring compliance with
current legislation. This follows the removal of the previous EPS
cladding as a variation to original scope of work, which will
remove the perceived risk posed by EPS cladding systems and
requirement for removal identified in a recent PAS9980
assessment.
