Pontoon Power to Harbour Moorings
September 4, 2025 Director: Management of Place (Other) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
To continue the essential upgrade of pontoon
power to Harbour moorings due to the current hardware being
outdated and unsafe. A harbour power supply provides electrical
power to boats while they are docked in the Harbour. This system
allows vessels to shut down their main and auxiliary engines,
reducing fuel consumption and minimising environmental impact. This
supply is provided by BCC.
Content
To award a contract to Rolec Services Ltd to
continue and complete the upgrade of the pontoon power to
Bristol’s harbour moorings.
Alternative options considered
No alternative options were considered because
Rolec Services have started to replace the supplies and using
another supplier would not be compatible and the whole harbour
electrical supply would need to be replaced at a cost in excess of
£500,000.
