Purpose

To seek approval to:
1. reprioritise the £1m of funding allocated for the Frome
Culvert as set out in the budget and to transfer £200k to
fund emergency investigation works on Pero’s Bridge and
reallocate the remaining £800k due to the potential pressure
emerging in the Underfall sluice repair project.

2. proceed with the urgent works on Pero’s Bridge following a
general inspection, which has initiated an instant ban on lifting
and a restriction stopping loads over 1 ton using the bridge i.e.
police horses.

That the Committee
for Economy and Skills
 
1. Approves the
reallocation of capital funding of £1m from Frome culvert to
the Underfall Yard and Pero’s Bridge as outlined in the
report.
 
2. Authorises the
Executive Director for Growth and Regeneration in consultation with
Chair of the Economy and Skills Committee to both modify as
appropriate the existing contract in connection with the additional
requirements for the Underfall Yard and to procure the necessary
contract for the works to Pero’s Bridge, in-line with the
maximum budget envelopes outlined in this report.
 
3. Authorises the
Executive Director for Growth and Regeneration to make any
subsequent modifications to these contract(s) as may be necessary
whilst staying within the maximum budget envelope outlined in this
report.
