Purpose

To seek approval to spend the Capital funding
allocation to continue with the essential, statutory asset
management and ongoing critical maintenance now required to keep
Avon Fixed Bridge safely fully open and operational.

That the Committee
for Transport and Connectivity:
 
1.
    Approved the spend of
£500,000 to Assess the bridge and design the works required
to keep Avon Fixed Bridge safely operational, ensuring the
Authority is discharging its statutory duty in this matter. Refer
to evidence base for full details.
2.
    Approved the proposal to
undertake a full category 3 structural assessment of the Avon Fixed
Bridge as outlined in this report.
3.
    Authorised the Executive
Director Growth and Regeneration in consultation with the Chair of
Transport and Connectivity Committee to take all steps required to
the spend the funding to undertake the full category 3 structural
assessment for the Avon Fixed Bridge and designing the subsequent
required works, including procuring and awarding contracts which
may be over the key decision threshold, as outlined in this
report.
