Contract Award – SAN Licences for VxRail Infrastructure
October 20, 2025 Director: Policy, Strategy and Digital (Other) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
Part of the council’s established
on-premises IT network infrastructure is a Dell VxRail, which is
required for ongoing operation of several key IT systems. This
decision details a Direct Award of a contract to Circle IT Ltd t/a
ARO for the provision of SAN (Subject Alternative Names) Licences
required by the hardware supplier to provide necessary support and
maintenance of the infrastructure.
During a recent procurement process for VxRail support and
maintenance, the contractor submitted a quote which excluded SAN
(Subject Alternative Names) Licences. The approved spend of
£151,809.58 (support and maintenance) has already been signed
off and a Purchase Order issued. It was subsequently identified
that Dell will not provide support for the VxRail environment
without SAN Licences, which were inadvertently omitted from the
original quotation. These licences are essential for enabling full
support and ensuring the operational integrity of the
infrastructure.
