Purpose

Maintenance of our roads in a safe and
serviceable condition is a statutory duty for the Highway Authority
and a key part of our Corporate Strategy in Objective 4.3: Maintain
essential city infrastructure for safety, longevity and
accessibility. 13 sites have been identified for resurfacing, based
on their condition and prioritised depending on their usage and
importance to highway network. This funding will be used to
progress the programme and deliver the highest priority of these
sites.

Approval to spend allocated funding on
Surfacing Programme, available from TCF Maintenance Funding
allocated to Frenchay Park Rockface being value-engineered to
£360k.

Alternative options considered

No other options. ‘Do Nothing’ or
deferring this spend will increase the cost to the authority
overall, particularly due to an increased need for costly reactive
maintenance.
