Purpose

To seek approval from Strategy and Resources
Committee to commit and spend all Section 106 monies reserved for M
Shed and its environs, which is approximately £1.045 million,
on a project which will improve the interactives and sustainability
of the museum galleries.

In addition – to approve use of £25k from the
Feasibility Fund Framework to support the Stage 1 feasibility work
to get outline designs, define the scope, and pull together a
high-level cost plan for the portion of the project involving
changes to the building fabric and services. If approval is given
to this project, the Feasibility Study will become part of the S106
funding.

The Committee RESOLVED:

 
1. (unanimous vote in favour) To approve the
use and spend of all Section 106 monies reserved for M Shed and its
environs, which is approximately £1.045million, on a project
which will improve the interactives and sustainability of the
museum galleries, improve visitor facilities (particularly toilets)
and enhance the appearance of M Shed in the public realm.
 
2. (unanimous vote in favour) In addition
– to note use of £25k from the Feasibility Fund
Framework has been approved by Capital Investment Board on 6
November 2025 to support the Stage 1 feasibility work to get
outline designs, define the scope, and pull together a high-level
cost plan for the portion of the project involving changes to the
building fabric and services. If approval is given to this project,
the Feasibility Study will be funded from the S106 monies.
 
3. (unanimous vote in favour) And Authorises
the Executive Director for Growth and Regeneration in consultation
with the Chair of the Strategy and Resources Committee to take all
steps required to spend Section 106 funding (including procuring
and awarding contracts over the key decision threshold) as outlined
in this report.
