Purpose
The Drug and Alcohol Treatment and Recovery
Improvement Grant (DATRIG) funding decision was taken at the
strategy and resources committee meeting on 17/03/25 as a finance
urgent key decision appended to the period 10 finance outturn
report, appendix A6, as noted in item 124; point 10 of the decision
notice.
As a result of the funding being approved, we now have
£132,000 to be allocated to up to four community led research
projects answering the question ‘How can we best meet the
substance use needs of Bristol’s diverse communities’
Research projects will be undertaken by trusted Voluntary,
Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) Alliance partners and will
be led by the communities they are working with. The outcomes of
the research will be used to influence service providers and
partners in ensuring the substance use treatment and recovery
services offered in Bristol reflect its diverse communities and are
accessible to all.
The fund would be administered through Quartet Community Foundation
on our behalf.
Content
To award Quartet Community Foundation a grant
to the amount of £132,000 to deliver a programme of up to
four community led research projects into the substance use needs
of Bristol’s diverse communities. This is in recognition of
the under representation of diverse groups within the substance use
services being offered. The results of the research will be used to
influence service providers and partners to better understand the
needs of diverse groups and to adjust delivery to meet those
needs.
Alternative options considered
We have an existing strong relationship with
Quartet Community Foundation which is the community foundation for
the region. Quartet have successfully administered a range of funds
for the city council and many other organisations.
There is not an alternative suitable organisation which can deliver
this programme in the ways expected.
