Purpose
Bristol City Council has a statutory
obligation to provide social care in HMP Bristol, under the Care
Act 2014, to support prisoners with eligible social care
needs.
Content
The Care Act 2014 requires local councils to
assess the social care needs of people in prison and approved
premises in their local area, and provide care and support to meet
these needs. The current contract expires on 31st October 2024. To
fulfil our statutory obligation, under the Care Act 2014. Bristol
City Council intends to recommission social care provision in HMP
Bristol for a 12 month period with the option of two further 12
months extensions. This will be a call off from Lot 4: Home Care,
of the Adult Social Care Single Framework.
