Reasons for the decision
The decision was taken by Cabinet on 16th July 2024, that authority be delegated to the Service Director Property and Assets (now Corporate Property & Assets), in consultation with the Cabinet Member for (then) Accessible Housing and Resources and the
Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Transport, to enter into an Agreement to Lease and (subject to the proposed Tenant obtaining a successful planning consent) a subsequent Lease and any other associated legal agreements deemed necessary for the underutilised Council owned land, (currently part of a site that is used as Park and Ride spaces), to allow it to be repurposed for use as an Electric Vehicle (EV) charging plaza with up to 40 Ultrafast EV charging points and a drive through food and beverage kiosk with WC facilities.
The commercial terms of the Lease meet the Council’s obligations under Section 123 of the Local Government Act 1972.
