To sign the variation to the memorandum of
understanding (MOU) with the secretary of state for
housing, communities and local government accepting the extension
in the funding period for
UKSPF Funding for 2025-26 to 30 September 2026.

Reasons for the decision

In 2025/26, the council received an allocation
of £385,390 of UKSPF, being £71,155 capital and
£314,235 revenue funding, with a requirement that all funding
would be spent and outputs
delivered by 31 March 2026. In December 2025, MHCLG announced that
the deadline for the
UKSPF programme had been extended to 30 September 2026 giving the
council an additional
six months for delivery and expenditure.
Signing this MOU enables the council to utilise the deadline
extension and continue to deliver
UKSPF funded projects until 30 September 2026. No additional
funding is awarded.

Alternative options considered

The alternative option is to not accept the
deadline and complete the projects by 31 March
2026, returning any funding not spent at that time
