To enter into a contract with Dean Martin
Contractor Ltd for the purposes of constructing self-binding gravel
paths in King George V playing field to the value of
£12,355.
Reasons for the decision
The Green space team are working in
partnership with the Friends of King George V playing field to
secure funding and construct a footpath around the whole perimeter
of the playing field, to support the needs of the community and
usage of the space. This contractor is part of the first phase
which focusses on the three-priority muddy, high usage areas. The
preferred contractor’s tender value was £7,170. The
bill of quantity rates will be used to extend the sections of
footpaths and get the best value out of the first phase project
budget of £12,355.
Funding is broken down as follows:
• The Friends of King George V were successfully awarded
£9,855 from the Councils Neighbourhood Community
Infrastructure Levy (CIL) towards the construction of sections of
self-binding gravel footpaths around the playing field. The Council
is delivering the project on behalf of the Friends Group and
therefore the CIL funding is being passed to the Green Space
team.
• CBC’s Green space team revenue (£2.5k) budget
2023/24.
An In-tend procurement process has been undertaken and following
the receipt of 5 bids Dean Martin Contractors Ltd were selected.
This decision notice provides the relevant authority to enter into
a contract with the contractor.
Alternative options considered
Not entering into this contract may result in
delays and the Friends Group having to give back the CIL funding to
the council.
