Purpose
Cheshire East Council is the
accountable body for Crewe Town Board, which promotes the
regeneration and economic development of Crewe.
The Cumberland Arena project
has been identified by Crewe Town Board within the Crewe Towns Fund
programme, having been submitted, with the approval of the
Council’s S151 Officer, to DLUHC now MHCLG, who have approved
each project.
The project will see a number of
improvements to the Cumberland Arena sports facilities in Crewe.
Part of the existing building at the arena will be demolished and a
new two-storey extension will be built to provide a reception area,
three new multi-functional studio spaces and better facilities for
spectators, including covered seating.
Extra car parking spaces, a new electricity sub-station, a new
storage compound, and electric vehicle charging points will also be
provided, and access to the site for pedestrians and cyclists will
be improved – with a new pedestrian entrance and bike
shelters included in the works.

procured via the NW Construction
Hub, to undertake the construction phase RIBA Stage 5 &
6 for the extension at Cumberland Arena.
