Officer Delegated Decision: Disposal of Land at Hole Farm, Alderley Edge
May 15, 2025 Executive Director Place (Officer) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
Hole Farm, Alderley Edge was compulsory
purchased as part of the Alderley Edge bypass scheme and contains a
derelict farm building which has remained empty for a number of
years. Situated on a Green Belt site, the potential opportunities
to redevelop the site are currently limited to a rural exception
site for affordable housing or a replacement dwelling on the
site.
A Rural Housing Needs Survey was undertaken by
the Cheshire Community Action Group in January 2023 which
identified a need for 17 new affordable houses in the Alderley
Edge. The site was approved by the
Economy and Growth Committee for disposal through the
Council’s Housing Development Framework for the development
of affordable homes. In September 2024,
a mini competition was undertaken to secure a Framework
organisation to develop the site for affordable housing with a
preference for social rented provision.
