Purpose

This Policy outlines the Councils approach to
enforcement of housing standards in the private sector. This Policy
is revised in light of the Renters Rights Act 2025, and separated
out from the Housing Financial Assistance Policy where it
previously sat.

RECOMMENDATIONS TO
COUNCIL
 
That Cabinet
recommended to Council:
 

a)   
The adoption of the Housing Enforcement Policy 2026-2031 at
Appendix 1.
 

b)   
That delegated powers are approved for the Divisional Manager
for Housing, Revenues & Benefits, following consultation with
the Cabinet Member for Housing, Revenues & Benefits, to make
minor amendments to the policy.
