Purpose

This report seeks approval to accept and expend Grant in Aid funding from the Environment Agency if our bid for a 3 year extension of the current BMP is successful.

Decision

RESOLVED:

1. 1 That Cabinet approves a three-year extension to the Selsey & Wittering Beach Management Plan 2021–2026, extending the beach management works until March 2029.
2. 2 That Cabinet approves the development of a new holistic Beach Management Plan for the coastline between East Head and Pagham Harbour.
3. 3 That Cabinet delegates authority to the Director of Planning and the Environment to apply to the Environment Agency to draw down and expend the available funding for the purposes of recommendations 2.1 and 2.2 above.
4. 4 That Cabinet delegates authority to the Director of Planning and the Environment, to procure and award a works contract for delivery of the Beach Management Plan extension following the selection of a preferred contractor.
