Reasons for recommendations
Following a period of informal
consultation a number of changes were
made to the structure. These were consulted on under a 4-week
formal consultation period. Whilst some comments have been
received, there are no changes to the proposed
structure.
Other
options considered and rejected
1.
There were three other options for consideration
alongside a shared service including:
a)
Remain as two separate teams. A restructure and
recruitment process would still be required as there are
a number of fixed term posts and
vacancies across both teams.
b)
Hybrid approach – there are elements of the
service that could be shared without going to a fully shared
service by creating a single shared manager and specialist posts
around Skills and Inclusive growth.
c)
Keeping the structure as proposed for
SSJC.
2.
During the formal consultation, an alternative
structure was proposed. Whilst this was considered, the majority of the consultees provided feedback in
support of the structure consulted on. The alternative structure
would have also resulted in increased budget
requirements.
