Reasons for
recommendation
To provide a modern car parking facility for
members of the public which maximises the use of space whilst
providing an improved experience for visitors.
 
The Council has an obligation to maintain the
car park in a safe usable condition, the current car park condition
is poor and potential hazards are now becoming apparent.
 
This proposed appointment of a contractor to
undertake improvement works ensures that the Council can fulfil its
obligations to provide safe parking provision.
 
Other options
considered and rejected
To carry out no enhancement
works and undertake essential maintenance only, such as patch
repairing.  This option was rejected due
to the requirement for improved parking facilities, wider parking
bays and current on-site hazards.
