Reasons for
recommendations
To protect residents and public spaces from
dog activities which have or are likely to have a detrimental
effect on the quality of life of those in the locality or it is
likely that activities will be carried on in a public place in that
area and that they will have such an effect
Other options
considered and rejected
Not to replace the PSPO’s. It is
proposed that each dog related PSPO is still appropriate and
proportionate to be used across the borough. The PSPO allows
authorised officers to enforce the orders when
necessary. Problems would re-occur /
occur if the PSPO’s were not in place and council officers
would have difficulty to address these behaviours without the
Orders in place.
