approved.
 
Reasons for
recommendations
 
1.        
The applicant has purchased a property on Chapel St (no.27) after
previously trading on Market Street for over eight years.
2.        
The grant award will go towards the refurbishment of the shop
frontage which will include new signage and external fascia
boards.
3.        
This project is the applicant’s second unit renovation in
Chorley. The first was a basement renovation on Market Street. This
project was very successful, but the applicant has now outgrown
this property and needs a bigger premises in order to offer more
treatments and services to their customers.
4.        
As this is in a prominent location of the Town Centre, it is
important to get the right mixture of businesses in and around the
surrounding area. The applicant’s history of previous
Businesses in the town centre shows that it will be a well-run
business and a welcome addition to the area.
 
Other options
considered and rejected
 
1.        
The options of not granting this award would result in the delay of
opening of the Business which would have a detrimental effect not
only on this new business, but nearby Businesses within this
vicinity.
2.        
Not granting the award would also result in lower quality signage
as funds have already been allocated to internal fixtures.
