It was
proposed by Councillor Mustoe, seconded
by Councillor Bunney and
RESOLVED that
1.
The Committee acknowledged the performance outcomes
of children and young people in Cornwall’s schools at Key
Stage 4 for the academic year 2023-2024, noting the areas of
strength as well as those for continued developed.
2.
The Committee thanked all the staff, who supported
children’s outcomes, for their efforts.
3.
The Committee supported and endorsed the work of the
Education service and its officers, to work independently and in
partnership with other organisations, to fulfil the Council’s
statutory responsibilities to ensure a high standard of education
for secondary aged children (amongst others) in
Cornwall.
Actions
To reissue
guidance to the Committee on how to engage with local
schools.
For a
detailed analysis to be undertaken of education performance data
including “churn of year cohorts” to be undertaken by
the future Committee of the new administration.
The number
of children home schooled across Cornwall to be circulated to the
Committee.
