Cornwall Council resolved on 21/04/2026 to call on its Director of Public Health to identify schools not engaged in oral health programmes, expand the dental van and establish dental nurse led pathways, investigate initiatives to encourage local students into dentistry, and ensure all Looked After Children are registered with an NHS dentist. The Director of Public Health will identify schools declining participation and explore extending supervised toothbrushing through family wellbeing hubs, work with partners to expand the dental van and establish check-up and referral pathways, investigate initiatives to encourage local students into dentistry and support their return to Cornwall, and ensure all Looked After Children are registered with an NHS dentist and receive a check-up within six months of entering care.
