Questions were put to the
Cabinet Member for Housing and Planning as follows:
(i)
Clarification on the reason why Cornwall Council was
unable to utilise £6.3m of Government Grant to support
retrofits in Cornwall.
(ii)
Clarification on the delay in fitting solar panels
and the use of private contractors.
(iii)
Clarification on how the Council was progressing in
delivering new housing which includes solar panels, grey water
recycling and ground source heat pumps.
(iv)
The importance of informing local members of housing
delivery within local areas.
(v)
Concern that the Council’s procurement
policies and procedures actively discourage and disfavour small
local based businesses in Cornwall.
(vi)
Clarification on the number of houses where planning
consent had been granted (including affordable housing) but had not
been delivered and what Council was doing to unlock those
sites.
ACTION:
To provide a briefing paper on
the number of homes consent within Cornwall (including affordable
homes) that had not been delivered (split between local authority
and private sector), the Governments’ future policy of
unlocking such sites and implementing compulsory purchase orders
(CPOs).
