The
Board considered and agreed the following proposed
actions
 
1. 
Recognised that housing is an issue that affected
all partners on the Board and therefore required a ‘Team
Cornwall’ approach, Board support for new housing in Cornwall
which, on balance, should take the pressure off existing
infrastructure rather than add (e.g. housing for healthcare staff
outweighed the possibility of more demand on health care
services).
2. 
Supported the (currently early) development of a new
Local Plan by providing evidence and data for the evaluation of
local need and help to build a better understanding of shared
assets.
3. 
Would request that the Strategic Housing Group
consider a multi-agency approach to reusing vacant shops/upper
floors to regenerate high streets.
4. 
Supported and promoted opportunities for communal
use of cars within members’ organisations, where
appropriate.
5. 
Recognised that more needed to be done to make roads
free from death and serious injury and therefore supported a
refresh of the South West Peninsula Road Safety Partnership
Casualty Reduction Strategy.  In
addition, the Board would promote the Strategy within its member
organisations and with partners and those represented on the Road
Safety Partnership who had sought to collaborate and coordinate
resources to deliver the Strategy, e.g. by working more closely
with communities to deliver locally led road safety campaigns and
communications, including targets visitor campaigns.
6. 
Members be encouraged to promote local community
events within their organisations and attend where appropriate with
Board Members to share examples of good community practices within
their organisations.
7. 
Noted the short-term and long-term aspirations of
the Strategic Convention, as set out in appendix 2 to the report,
and agreed further exploration of those suggestions.
