Purpose

The Cabinet approved report
SHAP/088 on 27 September 2023, to permit the disposal of the
Council-owned land at Malthouse Road, and to lift the Restrictive
Covenant on part of the land that is owned by the Hospice.

Resolution b) of that report delegates the negotiation, approval
and completion of all relevant legal documentation, to the Head of
Strategic Housing, the Head of Corporate Finance and the Head of
Governance, People and Performance, in consultation with the
Cabinet Member for Housing and the Leader of the
Council.

Content

To dispose of the Council’s land interests in the
Malthouse Road site in collaboration with the Hospice surrendering
their lease and disposing of the combined land interests.

The Head of Strategic Housing in conjunction with the Head of
Corporate Finance and the Data & Democracy Manager in the
interim on behalf of the Head of Governance, People &
Performance, and in consultation with the Leader of the Council and
the Cabinet Member for Housing.

Alternative options considered

Through collaboration with St
Catherine’s Hospice the disposal of the combined land
interests results in a more marketable and developable
site.
