Purpose

To seek approval to enter into a construction
contract for the works at Shaw House

Exempt Paragraph 3 – Information
relating to financial and business affairs of any particular person
(including the Authority holding that information)

 
RESOLVED
 
That the Cabinet:

a)          
approves Option 2, the awarding of a construction contract as set
out in section 6.2 of report SHAP/100.

b)          
notes the revised budget as detailed in section 8.1 of report
SHAP/100.

c)          
delegates the negotiation, approval and completion of all relevant
documentation, including legal paperwork, to the Head of Strategic
Housing, in consultation with the Head of Law & Governance, and
the Head of Corporate Finance
(Generic Delegations 2 & 3 will be used to enact this
recommendation).

Reasons for the
Recommendations

 

a)               
To meet its obligation to address housing demand in the borough,
and to fulfil its statutory duties to residents in housing need,
the Council must pursue every available opportunity to increase the
supply of affordable housing locally.

b)               
The council continues to experience significant and sustained
pressure on its temporary accommodation services.

c)               
To meet our contractual obligations under the Local Authority
Housing Fund (LAHF) grant, used to purchase this property and
enable occupation, delivery of the works now needs to be
accelerated.
