...to suspend the Made in Derbyshire campaign, ceasing promotion and advising stakeholders of the suspension and its implications.
Full council record
Purpose
To seek Cabinet Member
approval to suspend the Made in Derbyshire (MiD) campaign.
Decision
That the Cabinet Member:
a)
Approves to suspend the Made in Derbyshire (MiD) campaign and undertake no further
work in its promotion or rollout until further agreement by the Cabinet Member;
and
b)
Approves to advise those known organisations and
individuals who have signed up to and/or those who ‘follow’ the campaign of the
proposed suspension of the MiD brand and implications for its continued use.
Reasons for the decision
To ensure the Council
manages the closing down of the brand, and its reputation amongst the culture,
arts and heritage sector, to best effect, ensuring any continued use of MiD
products is appropriate.
Alternative options considered
Option 1 - Do nothing -
This option is not considered feasible as the website is unstable and will
require investment. The two established posts in the Arts Team have been
deleted and there is insufficient staff resource and funding to manage the
campaign.
Option 2 - Licence the
brand to a third party on agreed terms. This would require staff resources and
funding to negotiate the terms of the licence agreement and for continuous
monitoring of the licence to mitigate reputational risk to the Council and
there is insufficient staff resource and no available funding for this.
Option 3 - Suspend the MiD
campaign. The brand will not be used in the forthcoming year but may be used in
future.
