Content

To extend the existing section 76 Agreement
between NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (formerly NHS
Doncaster CCG) and City of Doncaster Council to enable the
continuation of the joint-funding mechanism for a contract between
NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board and Sharpsmart - which
provides for the collection of medical sharps from domestic
properties.
Under this decision, City of Doncaster Council will continue to
contribute 50% of the cost of the contract for a further 12 months
(commencing April 1st, 2024).
To renew the section 76 agreement for this purpose.

Alternative options considered

Officers do not consider it feasible for the
Council to provide a service directly to Doncaster residents at
this time due to excessive cost implications and the potential for
breaches of waste classification requirements – we are not in
a position to carry out our own procurement at this time, however,
that is a possibility that could be explored in the future should
the Council allocate the resources and technical expertise
