Purpose

Wadworth Primary School is a maintained
community school. The school has raised ongoing concerns regarding
the condition of the Quad infill, primarily due to health and
safety risks.
There have been and continue to be regular water ingress affecting
the fabric of the building.
Despite repeated patching over the years, the Quad infill has
deteriorated to a point where it poses a significant health risk
due to the presence of black mould. This has made the area
unsafe for continued use.
The only viable option is to take remedial action. Meetings with
the school leadership have been held to explore solutions that
maintain operational capacity while addressing the health and
safety concerns.

Content

Following ongoing health and safety concerns
raised by Wadworth Primary School, the Council has agreed to
proceed with the removal of the Quad infill.
This decision record authorises the necessary actions to implement
the agreed solution, including reinstatement of the Quad,
refurbishment of an internal storage area, and relocation of
its contents to an on-site container.
The project is estimated as £192,000 including a contingency.
It will be completed in three stages:-
1. Installation of an external storage unit.
2. Refurbishment of Store Room
3. Removal of school roof and reinstatement of the Quad.
