The funding will contribute to the
installation of fixed gates at the following flood-prone highways
across the borough of Doncaster:

Thorpe Bank, Thorpe in Balne
Denaby Lane, Old Denaby
Pastures Road, Pastures Lane & Melton Lane, Denaby
Fishlake Nab, Fishlake
Doncaster Road to Greys Bridge, Denaby

The gates will be installed to reduce the risk and consequences of
flooding, preventing vehicles from entering floodwaters and
minimising road closures. This project is crucial in reducing the
impact of frequent flooding events, improving road safety, and
decreasing disruption to road users and emergency services. The
funding will be allocated towards the delivery of the scheme,
addressing long-term challenges posed by increasing flood events
and helping to alleviate road closures that currently clash with
other maintenance works, leading to delays and complaints.
