To put out a joint ESPO (Eastern Shires
Purchasing Organisation) tender for both Adwick Park play area and
Highfields play area in relation to the provision of fixed outdoor
play equipment in line with Doncaster Council’s Play
Policy.

The monies utilised will be from a combination of Section 106 money
and capital funding. The Section 106 money is from planning
reference 15/02892/FULM.

Alternative options considered

Option 1 – Preferred Option
To proceed with the proposed use of Section 106 and Capital monies
to procure new play equipment in Adwick Park and Highfields play
areas in line with the Council’s Play Policy. These
improvements will benefit local residents (improved visitor
experience) and could be a positive asset for a future Green Flag
Award application at Adwick Park.

Option 2 – Not the recommended Option
Do nothing. No improvements will be made in either play area.
The existing equipment will continue to deteriorate and may have to
be removed if it becomes unsafe. If there is no funding available
at that time, the equipment may not be replaced. The money held for
Planning Reference 15/02892/FULM will not be utilised and would
need to be returned to the developer. The visitor experience will
not be improved.
