Purpose

The decision to implement Care Cubed is based
on the need for a robust, evidence-based tool to support placement
cost benchmarking and negotiation. CareCubed provides a transparent
and consistent methodology for evaluating placement costs against
needs, which will help ensure value for money and improve
commissioning outcomes.

Content

To implement the CareCubed tool within the
Children’s Directorate to support the commissioning team in
assessing the value for money of children’s placements,
improve market management, and identify opportunities for cost
reduction and negotiation with providers for high-cost
placements.

Costs are £13,000 per annum for 3 years for the Council
Licence option, with a one off implementation charge of
£10,000 – Total of £49,000

Alternative options considered

Do nothing: Rejected due to continued
challenges in managing placement costs and lack of transparency in
provider pricing.

Develop an in-house tool: Rejected due to resource constraints and
lack of specialist benchmarking data.
