Purpose

The reason for this decision is:
• City of Doncaster Council’s Heritage & Culture
Services will achieve direct benefit (including income) through the
development of new commercial plan for Cusworth
• The funds will support the future development of ‘the
Bothy’ at Cusworth
• The funds will support the delivery of a volunteering
programme for Cusworth, which will target people at risk of chronic
loneliness for people looking for work experience to support
progression into work.

Content

To accept the £116,000 grant from Arts
Council England, Museum Renewal Fund (MRF) for the ‘Unlocking
Cusworth Hall and Park - Evolving Cusworth's Commercial
Potential’ project.

Alternative options considered

The alternative option was for Doncaster to do
nothing and not submit a proposal to access the Museum Renewal
Fund. Therefore, not progressing this important area of work with
the additional external funding resource. This would have risked
reputational damage with DCMS, Arts Council England and other
funders. This would also slow down and impair the work towards
wider investment through an emerging place plan for the site.
