Full council record
Purpose
During the preparations for the King and
Queens visit to the City of Doncaster, it was brought to our
attention there were no records available for the LOLER (Lifting
Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) inspections and
weight testing of the fixtures for each of the chandeliers within
the mansion house. In particular the one over the main staircase,
was suspended by a very old winch that didn’t meet the
current standards for safety and operation. A temporary secondary
safety wire was fitted for the visit.
Corporate Safety advised all chandeliers and their fixings need to
be inspected and tested.
Various specialist suppliers were shown around the building and
invited to quote for the works.
Quotations varied in price, however the preferred quotation also
included cleaning and re-wiring of the chandeliers themselves and
therefore appears to be the most advantageous and value for money
option.
All discussions with regards to the financial implications were
discussed by Dave Stimpson (Head of Property Services, Place
directorate).
