23241021 CYPS The Development of a Regulated Emergency Provision at Hatfield Water Park
September 29, 2023 Executive Director of Children, Young People and Families (DCS) (Officer) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
The decision is part of a strategic approach
and provides the opportunity to develop internal provision which
delivers higher quality outcomes with lower operating costs than
externally purchased provision. More importantly it means that
Doncaster children remain within the city rather than being placed
outside of the borough.
Content
The Future Placement Strategy outlines the
City of Doncaster’s aims for developing children’s
homes provision within the city. The strategy aims to create new
homes through the purchase of private assets, the repurposing of
council assets, or partnership arrangements to deliver leased
properties.
The Council has entered into a strategic relationship with
Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust to redevelop some of their
existing residential estate into post-16 accommodation for
Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC) and Care Leavers, and
also the redevelopment of a separate building which can be
repurposed to provide emergency regulated provision.
The decision therefore is to release capital funds from the Future
Placement Strategy capital allocation of circa £85k to
redevelop the property so that it meets regulatory standards.
These capital funds are already in place as part of the Future
Placement Strategy Capital allocation and no new finds are
requested as part of this decision
