Purpose

Established in 2020 as a way of engaging with
people who were inactive or socially isolated due to the lockdown
measures, Home Goals developed a community of people that could
access recorded activity such as live workouts, cook-along
sessions/tutorials, meditation, and online challenges during
periods of lockdown/restrictions.
The impact of covid-19 on residents’ physical and mental
health cannot be underestimated and the Home Goals programme
delivered excellence around the wellbeing agenda, demonstrating
excellent outcomes throughout the Pandemic by switching to
digital-based activities to enable participatory engagement from
its
members.
With over 1000 members signed up via their Facebook group, delivery
of the project in 2022/23 transitioned into offering a mixture of
‘in person’ activity through the Fit Rovers health
programme with the Home Goals element online for entry level
exercise or regular workouts for those unable to travel. This
hybrid, flexible
approach proved equally as good and retained strong levels of
participation and engagement, with members continuing to engage
with the challenges, workouts and activities.
For the reasons indicated, as there is currently no alternative
service
provision available; if rejected the programme would inevitably
have to close and leave unmet need and add to a growing obesity
epidemic and further burden on health and social care
services.
The grant agreement will be facilitated through our legal
department following ODR sign off.

Content

A decision has been taken by the Director of
Public Health to award a grant to the Club Doncaster Foundation for
£60k for 2023/24 to support the implementation and delivery
of the ‘Home Goals’ wellbeing programme.
Payments will be made to the sum of £15k per quarter
commencing with £15k in Q1 and the recurring payments of
£15k in Quarters 2,3 and 4 respectfully. The Provider will
complete performance reports and monitoring information to evidence
outcomes and project success.
