Purpose

Doncaster Council, as a member of the South
Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) was successful in a
bid to the Department for Transport for Active Travel Funding
Tranche 2 to deliver Active Travel improvements between Conisbrough
and Warmsworth A630 to the grant funding value of £999,924.
Approval was given by Cabinet on the 07/07/2021 to;
• Approval to submit business cases for proposed
schemes.
• Approval to enter into a funding agreement with Sheffield
City Region (now known as SYMCA) to draw down funding for the
delivery.
• Approval to deliver the schemes associated with the Active
Travel Fund.
Delegate negotiating and agreeing the terms and conditions, and the
decision to enter into a funding agreement with Sheffield City
Region and subsequently drawing down the funding to the Director of
Economy & Environment and Section 151 Officer, in consultation
with the Mayor. This will allow us to obtain the funding to sign
Outline Business Case and Full business Case and enter Outline
Business Case and Full Business Case.
The route adds to Doncaster’s growing active travel network
connecting residents of Conisbrough to Warmsworth and onto the
existing quiet streets network giving cyclists an attractive
journey and allowing more people to consider low carbon methods of
transport for short journeys. The new infrastructure will help
Doncaster council achieve net zero ambitions by creating modal
shift to active modes. The route will also contribute to improving
levels of physical activity in the area
by providing safe facilities for more people to take up cycling or
walking whether this be by commuting to work or employment or
recreationally.
The new infrastructure Delivery of the interventions will
contribute to meeting output of the adopted Get Doncaster Cycling,
Get Doncaster Walking and Get Doncaster Moving strategies.
We are now at the stage where funding needs to be
claimed.
