Purpose

Maple Medical PRU is a specialist provision
which provides education for pupils with a variety of individual
needs including pupils who are school aged parents. The school
provides nursery places at an on-site Ofsted registered early years
provision known as Maple Minis Nursery when their baby is born.
These young parents are referred via the Engagement & Behaviour
service.
The Governing Body manage the early years provision, with the
Headteacher as manager of the nursery itself, and with the
Council’s Head of Early Intervention and Prevention as the
Ofsted
registered nominated person. The setting is staffed by members of
the school workforce who are suitably qualified and who are
employed by the school. Funding for the nursery comes jointly
from the school’s budget and the Care to Learn Fund.
The number of children accessing the nursery has fallen over the
last five years and currently there is only one baby on roll. At
the last Ofsted inspection in March 2018, there were no children on
the roll. The Governing Body have recently assessed the situation
and have
determined that the costs of staffing and maintaining the provision
are no longer feasible and as such, have made the decision to close
the provision for 21 July 2023. Ofsted have been informed and
approved the closure

years provision, known as Maple Minis Nursery, which is based on
the school site.
To facilitate alternative funded childcare arrangements for any
parents affected by the closure.
