Further to Member instruction,
work will commence to replace the play area at Westmead Open space
in Wisbech, given that the existing facility is at the end of its
useful life.
Budget to come from FDC capital
funding and not the Pride in Place Impact Funding following
agreement from the Portfolio Holder for Finance.
Reasons for the decision
It
has been recognised for some time that the play area at Westmead
Ave in Wisbech is beyond its useful life and does not represent a
fit for purpose asset for local community use.
With
capacity increased following the recruitment of a play area officer
as part of the Pride in Place funded, Fenland Inspire! Play Area
project, work on the replacement of Westmead Play area will
commence. This work will include local
Member consultation, Community consultation and then formal
procurement using the ESPO framework.
Budget is £55,000 from FDC’s capital programme, not
funded by the Pride in Place Impact Fund (PIPIF) Grant.
Alternative options considered
N/A-
it is recognised that a replacement of this end-of-life asset is
required.
Consideration of using the
PIPIF budget was given, but in consultation with the Portfolio
Holder for Finance it has been decided that funding should come
from FDC’s capital programme.
