Purpose
To place an order with Bridges Fire, following a procurement process, for replacement of the Fire Safety system at Hudson Leisure Centre.
Following a conditions survey of all aged assets at site, it was found that the Fire system had reached the end of its workable life cycle and will need replacement in accordance with Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. This is both a safety and maintenance concern.
Decision
To place an order to the value of £27,425.90 with Bridges Fire, following a procurement process, for replacement of the Fire Safety system at Hudson Leisure Centre.
Reasons for the decision
• Existing equipment is beyond useful life and is critical for the functioning of the centres
• A procurement exercise has been conducted following FDC’s procurement policy and Bridges Fire have quoted in line with the Procurement framework illustrating value for money.
• FDC has a budget for condition survey works within the capital programme. As replacement of a whole capital asset, FDC is bound by the contract with Freedom to carry out this replacement.
Alternative options considered
None – this is critical equipment.
