Purpose

To seek approval to begin the relevant and
required statutory consultation for the proposal to amalgamate
Saltney Ferry Primary School and Saltney Wood Memorial Primary
School to create a new 3-11 Primary School for Saltney.

Content

(a)       That the contents of
the report be noted;
 
(b)       That approval be
given to commence consultation with relevant stakeholders on the
proposal to close both Saltney Ferry and Saltney Wood Memorial
Primary Schools, amalgamate both schools and open a new 3-11
community primary school to operate on two sites moving into a
single new school site to serve the Saltney community;
 
(c)        That any
proposal, should it be approved following completion of the
required statutory processes, would be implemented by September
2026, be noted;
 
(d)       That approval to
submit a Strategic Outline Business Case to the Welsh Government
for a replacement community primary schools for Saltney Ferry
Primary School and Saltney Wood Memorial Primary School be
noted.  Submission of the Strategic
Outline Business Case is subject to the outcome of the statutory
consultation in relation to the new community primary school
proposed for Saltney.  Any new capital
project will be brought back to COT and Cabinet for further
determination; and
 
(e)       That it be noted
that any new capital programme will be brought back to Cabinet for
further determination.
