Purpose

To provides an update on the phased
implementation across Flintshire, the number of children approved,
and the funding provided by Welsh Government for 2025-26.

Content

(a)       That
Cabinet note the current progress and impact of the Flying Start
two-year old childcare programme (which provides funded early years
childcare from the term following a child’s second birthday)
and its contribution to reducing inequalities and improving
outcomes for children and families; and

 

(b)       That
Cabinet agrees to the proposed extension of the programme, in
accordance with Welsh Government grant funding allocation and
eligibility criteria, including the confirmed number of places,
ensuring alignment with other childcare programmes, local needs and
strategic priorities for early years childcare provision.
