Purpose
To provide an overview of the first
quarter’s performance for recycling and waste minimisation
since the implementation of the 3-weekly residual waste (black bin)
collection service change.
Content
(a) That the contents of the
report and the recycling performance to date be supported, noting
the actions being taken to continuously improve service
delivery;
(b) That
work undertaken by staff and workforce to deliver the service
change and continue efforts to achieve the 70% recycling target be
supported;
(c)
That the efforts of Flintshire residents to reach a recycling
target of 70% and divert recyclable materials from the residual
waste (black bin) to the existing kerbside recycling services and
reuse be supported; and
(d) That
the request by the Environment & Economy Overview &
Scrutiny Committee to bring a further report back to the Committee
in February 2026 to highlight statistics for actual missed
collections, including areas of repeated missed collections be
supported. The report to include
proposals for improvement to the collection service and
analysis.
