Purpose

An information board and
memorial plaque commemorating 22 men who were killed on Dymchurch
beach 29 May 1944

Decision

Its important to
acknowledge and recognise the sacrifice made by those who took part
in Operation Overlord, including the build up to D-Day on 6 June
1944 so that those who gave their lives to free others is always
remembered and never forgotten. Future generations should be
reminded their freedoms came at the cost in order to eradicate
tyranny.
