Purpose
Community Christmas meal for adults with
disabilities - To reduce costs to disabled people in the community
to access the Touchbase Christmas Meal, a key event in the
calendar.
Decision
To provide funding of £180.00 to the above
project.
Reason for decision:
The primary purpose of the Touchbase
Christmas Meal is to provide a community building event for our
members, to combat seasonal isolation and opportunity for
socialisation between members from across the district with Shared
experience. The Touchbase Christmas Meal is one of only a couple of
events during the year where all the members we support across the
week are able to come together at the same time, deepening
peer-to-peer connections and strengthening community cohesion. The
host venue said this about last year’s meal, “We had
the privilege of being the venue for the Christmas Celebration for
Touchbase last year. It was a joy to see their clients being part
of a place and experience where they are welcomed, nurtured and
valued.” (Peter Truss, Harbour Church building
manager).
Touchbase member Jayde, said of last
year’s event ‘This is one of the best things of the
year, eating together, being together, sharing. It makes me look
forward to what I might be able to do next year, what others will
do next year” . The Touchbase Christmas meal also gives us
the opportunity to value and thank our volunteers who bring so much
to the life of the centre.
