Purpose

To seek approval to enter into a lease with Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner for part of the Civic Centre, Arnot Hill Park.

Decision

THAT The Leader:
1.Approves the granting of a lease of part of the Civic Centre as shown edged red on the Plan at Appendix 1 to Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner.
2.Approves the Heads of Terms at Appendix 2

Reasons for the decision

To allow for continued partnership with Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner.
To generate income for the Council over underused space.

Alternative options considered

An alternative option would be to not let the space to the Police. However, with the PCC needing to vacate Jubilee House this would mean that they would no longer maintain a presence within the locality. Additionally, this would see a loss of income to the Council. A tenant located on the First Floor of the Civic Centre recently vacated the space so rental income from the PCC would help to mitigate this.
Another alternative would be to lease the space to another partner. However, GBC has not identified any alternative partners that have been forthcoming in wanting accommodation of this size.
