Purpose

These individuals have been selected for the knowledge and experience that they can bring to the MDC Board including experience of and capacity in areas relevant to the carrying out of the MDC's functions.

They will complete declarations of interest to ensure that they have no financial or other interest likely to affect prejudicially the exercise of their functions as member of the Board.

Appointment of these individuals will be helpful in ensuring that the overall composition of the Board provides a good combination of knowledge and experience and reflects local priorities and decision making.

Decision

The Mayor intends to issue appointment letters to the following individuals formally appointing them to the Board of the Atom Valley Northern Gateway Mayoral Development Corporation:

• Ian Marchant – as a Private Sector Member

• Marian Sudbury OBE – as a Private Sector Member

• Councillor Eamonn O’Brien – as a Public Sector Member

• Councillor Neil Emmott – as a Public Sector Member

• Councillor Dene Vernon– as a Public Sector Member

• Councillor Stephen Anstee – as a Public Sector Member

Alternative options considered

Having made the decision to designate the Atom Valley Northern Gateway Area as a Mayoral Development Area and the Secretary of State having issued the Order establishing the Mayoral Development Corporation a Board must be appointed.

For the Private Sector Members, these individuals are appropriate appointees from those considered by the panel.

For the Public Sector Members, these are appropriate appointees on the basis of their being elected representatives in Bury or Rochdale, as appropriate.
