Purpose

Operation Vulcan operates a Clear, Hold, Build framework to reduce serious and organised crime in high-harm local areas. This has been a very successful Operation that has significantly reduced crime in areas of high crime in Greater Manchester, winning international acclaim.

Operation Vulcan is currently nearing the end of the clear phase in Brinnington and significant progress has been made to clear and disrupt serious and organised crime.

A key aspect of the hold and build element is establishing relationships with grass roots VCFSE organisations in the area and ensuring that they have resources to divert people away from crime and ASB and to build back the community.

It is proposed that £10,000 be provided to Sector 3, the VCFSE infrastructure organisation for Stockport to manage a small-scale grant funding pot to support local VCFSE organisations including local sports clubs as part of the Hold and Build Phase.

Decision

£10,000 grant be awarded from Police Property Act funding to the VCFSE Build element of Operation Vulcan and that this be made directly to Sector 3 (the VCFSE infrastructure support body for Stockport) who will distribute funding to grass roots VCFSE organisations in Brinnington.
